Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, co-presidents of Amblin TV, have been talking up Minority Report…
You’ve probably heard by now that Minority Report is being brought to our tellies by Amblin TV (our full lowdown on film-to-TV projects is here). The show, we’re told, will have a female protagonist.
Now, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey from Amblin have been talking about the project. “Minority Report's a great example of something that should be [rebooted] because there's a way to produce that as a series that is not stepping on the film,” said Falvey.
“Our way into it,” he continued, “takes place after the film, in terms of the time frame. It's a great title and property, and there's a great procedural engine that drives it.”
In an interesting interview (you can read the whole thing on The Hollywood Reporter, here), they also touched upon the ratings disappointment of Extant.
“The conversation we're having is, how do we open this up?” explained Falvey. “How do we bring in an audience and let the show grow? And like anything, most of that is character and story; it's not about the mythology and the genre part of it.”
More info on both projects as we hear it.
