David Ayers' Suicide Squad movie may be lining up a big star to play one of DC's biggest villains...

Jared Leto might be playing the Joker, but not in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. David Ayers'Suicide Squad movie, a concept that historically includes lesser-known DC villains like Deadshot and Blockbuster, is undergoing a bit of a re-tooling, and it sounds like that does indeed include Batman's biggest foe.

The Wrap first reported the news. In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter on November 6th, Mr. Leto sure did make it sound like he was involved with a project that requires the kind of secrecy that usually surrounds these projects in their early days. When asked about his future projects, Mr. Leto told THR, "It's going to be an exciting 2015...I've sworn to keep my mouth shut but I think that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that's for sure."

Earlier Suicide Squad drafts included Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Multiplex, Jaculi (a speedster), Vixen, and Mindboggler, but a little star power in the form of Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor and Jared Leto's Joker would certainly help get audiences (and Warner Bros) excited about the project. Additionally, Latino Review reports that Cara Delevingne is in the running for Harley Quinn. While Harley Quinn wasn't in earlier drafts, she's been a hefty presence in the recent comics, and if Warner Bros. is looking to stack this one with more high profile villains, then this is the way to go.

I reached out to representatives for Mr. Leto, but nobody was around to comment. As of now, there's nothing more concrete to report.
