This should come as no surprise at all, but Star Wars: Episode VIII, whatever that's called, will return home again.
While there's plenty of hooplah about the Star Wars: Episode VII title, now known as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it's time to turn our attention to Star Wars: Episode VIII. Which sounds crazy when I write it like that, but it's true. The JJ Abrams film has wrapped principal photography, so they may as well figure out how and where the next one will shoot.
This one probably falls under the "twin suns rise in the east" category of news reporting, but Star Wars: Episode VIII will also film at Pinewood Studios, home of many a Star Wars movie. JJ Abrams won't be back for this installment, but Rian Johnson (Looper) is set to direct and write, which is exciting. As we have nothing else to report about Star Wars: Episode VIII at this time, we direct you to our ever-increasing Star Wars: The Force Awakens- Everything We Know article, which is loaded with things you may or may not actually want to know.
There's no start date yet, but it probably won't be too far in the future. In other news that isn't exactly news, Gareth Edwards' Star Warsspin-off film, whatever that might be, will also shoot at Pinewood. As that one is scheduled for a December 16th, 2016 release date, you can bet that it will start lensing in 2015.
