Christian Bale has been chatting about the moment when he heard that Ben Affleck was the new Batman...
Christian Bale was adamant come the end of his work on The Dark Knight Rises that, unless Christopher Nolan was directing again, his Batman days were over. Thus, as you more than likely know, the role then went to Ben Affleck, who's taking over Batman duties in Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which is due in 2016.
But how did Bale feel when he heard that Affleck was the new Batman? Empiremagazine posed that question to him.
"I've got to admit initially, even though I felt that it was the right time to stop, there was always a bit of me going 'go on... let's do another.' So when I heard there was someone else doing it, there was a moment where I just stopped and stared into nothing for half an hour."
He added that "I'm 40. The fact that I'm jealous of someone else playing Batman...I think I should have gotten over it by now."
Bale also confirmed that he hasn't spoken to Ben Affleck directly about the role, but has been in email contact with him, "offering bits of advice." He added that "I would imagine he is doing everything he can to avoid anything that I did."
The new issue of Empiremagazine goes on sale this week.
