Frank Grillo confirms that Marvel is taking his Crossbones measurements down (literally) for the upcoming Captain America: Civil War...
Frank Grillo has always been fairly confident that he’d return for another Captain America film. After all, when I talked to him last June, he assured me that we had not even seen the beginning of Crossbones after his appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Now, the Purge actor has opened up a little bit more to EW about how Marvel is already taking his measurements for Captain America: Civil War. Literally.
Grillo said, “They just kind of called and said, ‘What kind of shape are you in? We’re going to need a body scan.’” That certainly sounds promising, as Grillo explained, “They scan your body so that whatever you wear fits like a glove.”
Grillo also promised that he would be adding on 15 pounds of muscle to get back into Winter Soldier shape, promising that Crossbones will be a complete badass when we see him again.
It certainly raises some interesting questions since the movie is ostensibly about Marvel’s fabled “Civil War” event, which primarily was a narrative of hero vs. hero. How Crossbones would fit into a battle between Iron Man and Captain America is not necessarily clear. However, wouldn’t it be something delicious if Cap had to go on the run from Tony Stark—and ended up holed up with a “friendly” Crossbones? After all, Crossbones did insist that “it’s nothing personal” when he tried to beat Cap silly in the last movie…
I guess we’ll find out when Captain America: Civil War fires its first volley in theaters on May 6, 2016.
