It's official. Michelle MacLaren will direct the first ever Wonder Woman movie for Warner Bros.
The word has been that Warner Bros. is looking for a female director for their Wonder Woman movie. They found her. Multiple sources now report Michelle MacLaren has officially signed on for the Wonder Woman director job.
Michelle MacLaren has several episodes of Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and Breaking Bad (where she also served as executive producer) to her credit, which means that Wonder Woman's warrior nature, not to mention graphic violence, are probably high on the list of priorities for the film. She will help develop the script, at the moment, we have no idea which (if any) writers are attached to the project.
Nothing else is known about the Wonder Woman movie other than the fact that it has a star in Gal Gadot (who we'll meet in 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice), and a release date of June 23rd, 2017. As hard as this may be to believe, this will be the first time in history that Wonder Woman has headlined her own solo film. We will, of course, get you more info when we can.
We wrote more about why Ms. MacLaren fits perfectly with Warner Bros. superhero movie strategy right here.
