It's quite possible that we will see Kurt Vonnegut's highly regarded novel Slaughterhouse-Five adapted for the big screen, at least if Guillermo del Toro has anything to say about it.
Del Toro is said to be directing the big screen adaptation of the wildly popular novel, with a screenplay being written by Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, del Toro stated that he "talked for about an hour and a half and came up with a perfect way of doing the book."
In Vonnegut's novel, aliens (Tralfamadorians) abduct Billy Pilgrim and go on to teach him that each moment exists simultaneously, leaving Pilgrim unable to ctonrol his own non-chronological travels through time.
We're not sure when Slaughterhouse-Five will see the light of day, but del Toro told The Telegraph that Universal will make it when it's his next movie, but Charlie Kaufman is an expensive writer, so it might be awhile.
Although, we do see Pacific Rim being quite a hit...
