Andy Serkis has been chatting about refining Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, and helping with Ultron on Joss Whedon's The Avengers sequel.
It's long been known that Andy Serkis has been working on Joss Whedon's upcomingAvengers: Age Of Ultron. As well as taking on a small, unspecified role in the film, Serkis' motion capture studio is also doing performance capture work for the film.
But what does that work involve specifically? "We did some work on Ultron," Serkis told Empire. "On the development of Ultron before James Spader came on board. In terms of movement styles: was he gonna be human-like? Was he going to be robot-like? So we worked with a bunch of different people, from body-popping experts to dancers, to this guy called Neil who’s nearly eight feet tall."
Hello to you, Neil.
Andy Serkis also worked with Mark Ruffalo, to help him perfect his performance as Hulk. "We gave Mark weights, we had voice projections so he could do his Hulk roar" Serkis revealed. "On screen we could have a virtual representation of the low-res avatar of The Hulk, so he could come out and feel that sense of scale."
Serkis is shifting his attention to his directorial debut next, Jungle Book: Origins. And Avengers: Age Of Ultron is set for release in May 2015.
