Frozen 2 looks like it's happening, as the voice of Elsa admits that "it's in the works"...

With over $1.3bn in the bank off the back off box office takings alone, Frozen- a film that's only a year old, but feels like it's been around a lot longer - has proven very precious to Disney. So much so that it's considering a Frozen 2, along with a Broadway stage show.

Disney hasn't - if you don't count upgraded straight-to-video releases - released a sequel to one of its main line of animated films since The Rescuers Down Under. And whilst rumours abound that a Wreck-It Ralph 2 is happening, the Mouse is playing things inevitably very close to its chest.

With Frozen 2? The same policy applies, although in a new interview with The Telegraph, Idina Menzel, who voiced the role of Elsa in the film (and sang the Oscar-winning tune "Let It Go") has effectively confirmed it's a done deal.

When asked about rumours of a stage show and a movie sequel, Menzel replied that "they're all in the works, ha ha!" When asked specifically is she was signed up for them both, she said "ah, yeah sure. Not the stage show - I don't know what will happen with that - but the movie hopefully. We'll see. I'm just going along for the ride."

Frozen, meanwhile, is back in UK cinemas at the moment, courtesy of another raft of sing-a-long screenings, that keep sending that box office total northwards. Frozen 2? It's coming, it seems, but it's a long way off yet. And as directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee told us earlier in the year, they're going to be protective of their characters. "I think we'll be right there", said Chris Buck, when we asked about any future extensions of Frozen. And Jennifer Lee added that "I certainly feel very protective of the characters".

We await further developments with interest...
