Not much of a surprise, this, but Christian Bale confirms that "I won't be working" with Terminator: Salvation's McG again...
Ahead of the release of his next film, Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods And Kings, Christian Bale has been giving press interviews, including one to the Wall Street Journal. And it was during that particular interview that Bale was asked about his time making Terminator: Salvation.
The production of Terminator: Salvation, you may recall, didn't appear to be a happy one, not least when audio of Bale "not in a good mood" on the set of the film was leaked online. But even before that, as the Wall Street Journalput to Bale, he'd said to McG that "nothing you'd seen in his filmography suggested he had what it takes to get that movie.""Right", Bale replied.
When the WSJput to him that it was "brutal" and that "directors have egos," Bale replied "yeah. But he goes, 'give me a chance. Everyone needs to evolve, and I need to turn over a new leaf. And please, you must’ve been in this position before yourself, when someone has taken a leap of faith on you' - which I have - 'please do that for me now; I promise you, I’m ready for it.'"
Bale did thus agree to the appointment of McG to Terminator: Salvation. So what does he think now? "There's a lot of room for many approaches and many characters within the film industry. I won't be working with him again, but I wish him very well. Okay?"
Yep, think we've got the idea there.
The disappointing box office returns of Terminator: Salvation back in 2009 meant that plans for that particular trilogy were abandoned. The next Terminatorfilm, Terminator: Genisys, will attempt to launch a fresh trilogy next summer. Neither McG nor Bale are involved.
