The plot synopsis for the Fantastic Four movie that's been floating around has been confirmed. You know what this means...
Break out your pitchforks and start your outrage engines! The Fantastic Four reboot has an official plot synopsis. We repeat, the Fantastic Fourmovie has an official plot synopsis, and it's bound to make some of you very, very angry.
It first surfaced on Rotten Tomatoes, not necessarily an indicator of official officialness, but like many leaks pertaining to this movie, it sounded plenty plausible. But IGNhave independently confirmed with 20th Century Fox that the following is indeed the official synopsis for the Fantastic Four movie.
THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. (C) Fox
It doesn't sound all that far off from Marvel's Ultimate Fantastic Four concept, but the whole "outsiders" thing is something that just doesn't really ring true when discussing the FF, does it? It looks like we're going to see the Negative Zone in this movie, which is kind of cool...
But once again, 20th Century Fox confounds expectations by not really "officially" releasing anything, instead just letting details leak out through various channels. It happened with a few photos (we're still shivering from the legal notices we got), it's happened with actors, and now this. All they have to do is release an image or two and a teaser, and everyone will shut up, but these leaks just aren't helping matters.
So, now that we know this, we have to ask once again...is it time to worry about the Fantastic Four movie? That link has everything we know (and more!) about the troubled film, which opens in August of 2015.
