Check out the new poster of Lily James as Cinderella and Game of Thrones' Richard Madden as her prince.
It’s hard finding love as a Disney princess. You spend so much time insuring that your hair, make-up, and dress are flawless that you hardly have a moment to find a matching companion of equal perfection. Yet, Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden attempts to offer just that in the new poster for Disney’s Cinderella.
Focused on a picturesque enchanted moment between Lily James’ titular hard-luck heroine and Madden’s charming royal, it has all the makings of an incoming musical number.
Directed by Academy Award-nominee Kenneth Branagh (Thor, Hamlet), the story looks to reimagine the romantic classic for a contemporary audience. It also stars Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) as the Prince, Cate Blanchett (The Aviator, Lord of the Rings) as the wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine, Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech, Alice in Wonderland) as the effervescent fairy godmother, and Holliday Grainger (The Borgias) and Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) as the stepsisters Anastasia and Drisella.
The Cinderella fairy tale was first created by Charles Perrault in 1697, and famously adapted by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1950, as the story of Ella, the orphaned daughter of a merchant who leaves her in the hands of a nasty stepmother. Soon, she is little more than an impoverished servant mocked by her “family” as Cinderella. That is until during the night of a Palace Ball, a little bit of magic comes her way.
Cinderella’s carriage is expected to arrive on March 13, 2015.
