Contrary to recent reports, Ridley Scott may yet be directing the sequel to Blade Runner himself...
Right then: last month, Ridley Scott revealed that Harrison Ford would be returning for Blade Runner 2, but that he wasn't going to be directing the film himself. On the eve of the release of his new film, Exodus: Gods And Kings, he's since chatted to Yahoo, and it now turns out he may sit in the director's chair after all.
"I don't know about [not directing it] yet," he said. "The script is very, very good. Very good." He noted that he's not sure what director he'd want for the film, adding that "it's a hard one to track because it's a very personal piece of my work... maybe one of the most personal pieces I did."
"I got so beaten up for it, I said I'd never try that again. But here we are. It's sitting there, ready to be made."
We wait and see, then, if Ridley Scott opts to direct this one after all. His next directorial project though is The Martian, an adaptation of Andy Weir's book, which is set to star Matt Damon. That's due in cinemas in 2016. After that? He may be helmingBlade Runner 2 after all...
