Altered Beast, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi and more are set for the film and TV treatment...
Following the path trodden by the games of Capcom, Electronic Arts and more in recent years, Sega is looking to bring its back catalogue of gaming properties to the screen.
It's entered into a joint venture with Hakuhodo DY in Tokyo, to launch Stories International. And Stories International will be taking a bunch of Sega brands, and looking to turn them into films, TV programmes and digital-only shows.
It's clearly early days for the venture, but already some names are being mooted. The likes of Altered Beast, Crazy Taxi, Streets Of Rage, Shinobi, and RiseOf Nightmares are reportedly first in the queue. Golden Axe and Virtua Fighter have both been named too.
We reckon Shenmuewould be a better bet, and it's surely just a matter of time beforeHouse Of The Dead's name gets mentioned.
It's all early days, and it's not clear which of the titles names are been explored for which format. It may yet be a while before we find out.
