The Wonder Woman movie director reminds us all that we have a long way to go before this movie actually gets released.
We may very well be about to enter silly season with the Wonder Womanmovie. Since we're still months away from even seeing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in a trailer for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and with the Wonder Woman movie a solid two and a half years in the future, expect some crazy things that may or may not be true to start circulating. This business abhors a vacuum, it would seem.
That being said, there's one thing that comes right from a reliable source, namely Wonder Woman movie director Michelle MacLaren. In a brilliant profile of the director and her work over at Vulture(hat tip to CBR for bringing it to our attention), it might appear that the production of the film hasn't even been officially greenlit yet, then again, the Vultureinterview was conducted over a month ago. "I really, really, really can't talk about this," Ms. MacLaren cautioned, before repeating a version of what we're starting to hear from everybody involved in any kind of superhero project. "I just picture a drone coming in over the hills and crashing through the glass and flying over here and putting duct tape over my mouth, you know?”
Still, it's good to remember that other than Ms. MacLaren as director and Ms. Gadot as star, there still isn't much to go on with the Wonder Woman movie. A recent bit of hearsay indicates that Warner Bros. are taking the Aquamanapproach with the script, though, hiring multiple writers to work on multiple screenplays, to see who turns in the best one. The kicker on that is, according to one writer not involved with the project...it sounds like there may be as many as six different drafts in the works. That sounds like hyperbole, but when it comes to projects like this, what doesn't these days?
Wonder Womanis scheduled to open on June 23rd, 2017. You'll meet her in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25th, 2016.
