Christophe Beck will write the musical score of Ant-Man for Marvel Studios; Fox has tapped Marco Beltrami for The Fantastic Four.

News

Fresh on the heels of the actual human-sized trailer for Ant-Man—which aired last night with the premiere of ABC and Marvel’s Agent Carter—the newest Marvel movie has now officially found its composer: Christophe Beck.

An intriguing choice, Christophe Beck could show more influence of Ant-Man being the streamlined project the studio wanted, as the composer is quickly becoming a go-to presence at the House of Mouse. Having scored Frozen (note: not the Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez songs), the short film “Paper Man,” and both of the recent Muppets films, Beck brings some in-house respectability. He also has a history of scoring more action driven films, such as Runner Runner and R.I.P.D.

The news was broken by Film Music Reporter, which also revealed that Marco Beltrami (The Wolverine, World War Z, The Scream Trilogy) will be scoring The Fantastic Four for 20th Century Fox.

Ant-Man follows the adventures of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) who carries on in the footsteps of his mentor and the original Ant-Man, scientist Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Using technology that allows Scott to both shrink and grow to fantastic and unimaginable sizes, Scott must give up his early life grifting and con man ways in order to help Dr. Pym and his lovely daughter Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) combat the forces of evil.

The Ant-Man movie has infamously had a long production life at Marvel Studios where it first was being hatched by comedy-action auteur Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz). Wright was writing and directing the film up until last year when he and Marvel abruptly parted ways. The film is now being helmed by Peyton Reed (Bring It On, Down with Love) and has multiple names attached to the current screenplay including Joe Cornish and Adam McKay.

Ant-Man will be in theaters on July 17, 2015. The Fantastic Four will become visible (hopefullly) on August 7, 2015.
