Find out what rating the MPAA slapped Fifty Shades of Grey with...and why they did exactly that....

The intended cinematic steam bath that is Fifty Shades of Grey is scheduled to be out in time for Valentine’s Day next month. But in the meantime, why not see a good movie? One such example is Still Alice, a moving portrait about a woman with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. It opens next week in wide release, but I saw it over a month ago, and can still not get Julianne Moore’s haunting performance of a younger woman, who has her identity stolen from her due to a devastating poison, out of my head. Moore delivers one of the highlights of her career—not missing a note for any that has had a loved one go through this nightmare—and she is surrounded by strong supporting work from Alec Baldwin and Kristen Stewart.

Boyhood is also now on DVD and Blu-ray—a film that Richard Linklater spent 12 years to make in one of cinema’s greatest experiments. It’s highly probable that it is about to win every Best Picture award that is out there.

Meanwhile, Fifty Shades of Grey has been rated R by the MPAA, because of “strong sexual content, including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity, and for language.”

I’m sure we can all guess what that “unusual behavior” will be—for example seeing this movie on February 13, 2015. But did you see that picture with the pencil? I digress…
