Disturbia and Eagle Eye helmer D J Caruso is the current favorite to direct G.I. Joe 3...
NewsParamount Pictures is pressing ahead with a third G.I. Joe movie, following the box office success of instalments one and two. But it must be hoping it can get a slightly better film out of the series this time around.
Part one was directed by Stephen Sommers, with the sequel helmed by Jon M Chu. And it was Chu who was initially its choice to return for a third movie as well. However, he's moved onto other projects, and so whilst Jonathan Lemkin has been working on a screenplay, G.I. Joe 3 has been missing a director.
Well, it might just have found one.
Deadline reports that D J Caruso is the new frontrunner. He's just finishing up work on The Disappointments Room due later this year. And his previous directorial outings have included I Am Number Four, Eagle Eye and Disturbia. Yep, Caruso is the man who helped put Shia LaBeouf on the map (arguably getting one of his best performances in the aforementioned Disturbia).
It's not a done deal yet, but it's described as "looking quite promising." Whether Caruso signs up or not, Dwayne Johnson is set to return for the third movie.
More as we hear it.
