New Details on Stephen King's IT Movie From True Detective Director

The IT movie is coming along nicely, and we have a few new details for you. We already knew that True Detectivedirector Cary Fukunaga is taking the helm and co-writing the script, but it's gettinge even closer to reality now. Producer Seth Grahame-Smith dropped some tidbits.

For starters, the script is nearly done. Mr. Grahame-Smith says that what they expect to be the shooting script is coming "any day now." Since ITis going to be two films, the plan is for Fukunaga and his writing partner to handle the second one, as well. "Our hope is to prep sometime in the next few months and shoot in the summer. That one is as much on the runway as we can possibly be. I know New Line is ready to go," he said.

He also promised that this version of the story will be "very scary," and "will bring back some of the viciousness of the book that they couldn’t do with the miniseries because it was for broadcast."

If shooting starts this summer, we could conceivably see the first installment in 2016, but 2017 seems more likely. You can check out every Stephen King movie and TV show in development in this handy list.
