That talk about Jake Gyllenhaal joining the cast of the Suicide Squad movie? Just talk, sadly...
NewsAs the Suicide Squad movie begins to ramp up production, expect a flurry of relatively small updates like this. It's actually rather annoying. You see, things moved quickly for Suicide Squad, from the moment David Ayer was announced as director (which was also the moment we realized the project was still alive) to the big cast reveal, it didn't take long. Now it's all about fine tuning it before filming begins in Toronto this April.
So, the latest bit of news piggybacks off the last piece of Suicide Squad news we had. That involved Tom Hardy, who had signed on to play the part of Rick Flagg, a military man who helps keep the Squad in line. Well, Hardy left the movie, reportedly because of issues with the script, and Warner Bros. was trying to line up Jake Gyllenhaal to take his place.
That's not happening. He passed on the role. We'll see our Hardy and Gyllenhaal free Suicide Squadmovie (which also features Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Will Smith as Deadshot) on August 5th, 2016. We have all the other details on the project right here.
