Guillermo del Toro has made news yet again today, by stating in an interview that he wants Benedict Cumberbatch for Frankenstein.
In the same interview we mentioned earlier when discussing Slaughterhouse-Five, del Toro said that he hopes to direct Cumberbatch in the adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
In previous interviews, del Toro stated that he wanted actor Doug Jones as Frankenstein, but it is possible that del Toro hopes Cumberbatch will play Dr. Victor Frankenstein opposite Jones as the creature. It wouldn't be Cumberbatch's first attempt at playing the monster, as he was a part of the stage production of the story in 2011.
It is only wishes from del Toro at this point, as he merely mentioned Cumberbatch in the interview. We will keep you posted as to whether or not anything actually develops from del Toro's words.
