Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt is proceeding with the mission a full five months early as Mission: Impossible 5 has moved to July.
NewsUPDATE: Film Divider is now reporting that Mission: Impossible 5 may be going by the title Mission: Impossible - Taurus. It notes that the title may just be a placeholder name at this stage, however, but we guess we'll find out in the next month or two.
ORIGINAL STORY: Ethan Hunt’s latest assignment for the IMF must have been a breezy one, because he is ready to say mission: accomplished a full five months earlier than expected!
Indeed, Paramount Pictures has revealed Monday that Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 5, which was supposed to open on Christmas Day 2015 (much like the December release for 2011’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) was moving up its timetable for theatrical extraction to July 31, 2015.
Paramount also revealed that Monster Trucks, a film originally scheduled for May 29, 2015, would be commandeering Tom Cruise’s previous Yuletide spot of box office real estate.
For M:I5, Cruise is reteaming with his Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie to tell the new tale of espionage intrigue. Just as Brian DePalma, John Woo, J.J. Abrams, and Brad Bird have in previous installments, a new direction for the franchise opens new opportunities. However, franchise stalwarts Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames are all set to return while Alec Baldwin, Simon McBurney, and Rebecca Ferguson are also joining the cast.
This also heats up the late July pile-up this summer, which already includes Marvel’s Ant-Man on July 17, 2015 and the very intriguing Pan reimagining from Joe Wright on July 24, 2015.
