Creed arrives in November, and the new Point Break has been put back to December, Warner Bros announces.
NewsWarner Bros has been shuffling its release dates around, with one film going back five months, and another having its debut confirmed.
The one that's been delayed is Point Break. The already controversial remake (mainly because it's a remake that at this stage, few people seem to like the idea of) was originally set for release on July 31st 2015, but Warner Bros has now pushed it back to December 25th 2015 in the US. We'd imagine that Warner Bros in the UK will follow suit, and go for a December release as well.
No official reason has been given for moving the Ericson Core-directed remake back, but we can hazard a guess. Last week, Paramount moved Mission: Impossible 5 forward from December to a July 31st release date. Warner Bros, we'd wager, doesn't fancy its chances there, and has thus basically taken the original spot thatMission: Impossible 5 had in the release schedule.
Not that that necessarily makes things any easier. It means Point Break now goes head to head in the States with Monster Trucks (which Paramount put back to December last week), Joy(starring Jennifer Lawrence), The Revenant, and the Will Smith-headlined Concussion.
The other new release date is for Rockyspin-off, Creed, that was filming up at Everton Football Club just the other week. Centring on the grandson of Apollo Creed, Sylvester Stallone will reprise the role of Rocky Balboa in the movie, and Creedhas a US release date of November 25th 2015. That's Thanksgiving weekend, and the film's competition includes Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, Ridley Scott's The Martian and Jeff Nichols'Midnight Special.
