Ryan Reynolds looks back at Green Lantern, whilst admitted that it was leaked footage that got Deadpool greenlit.
NewsRyan Reynolds has been continuing his work on the promotional trail for his new movie, The Voices. And as a result of that, he's been chatting quite a lot about his upcoming Deadpool feature, and now he's been looking back at his time as Green Lantern.
Chatting to Yahoo, he recalled that "when we shot Green Lantern, nobody auditioning for the role of Green Lantern was given the opportunity to read the script, because the script didn't exist."
"I'm not complaining about it," he added, "it was an opportunity of a lifetime, and if I were to go back and retrace my steps, I would probably do everything the exact same way."
So how does he know he's not repeating the mistake with Deadpool? "Script," he said. "That's what's different on this one."
Furthermore, Reynolds confirmed that it was the leaked footage of Deadpool that was instrumental in ultimately getting the film greenlit. "Exclusively the leaked test footage, 100 percent," he said. Reynolds admitted that "you can look back at an email chain from all of us, the core group involved in Deadpool, saying 'we should leak this fucker' like three years ago."
"Nobody wanted to nut up and do that, myself included," he said. We shall now add 'nut up' to the list of phrases we intend to use in everyday conversation.
Deadpool arrives in cinemas in February 2016, and the new take on Green Lantern - without Ryan Reynolds involved - will land in 2020.
