Samuel L. Jackson has some advice for everyone who is thinking about seeing Fifty Shades of Grey instead of Kingsman: The Secret Service...

News

In case you have not heard, Kingsman: The Secret Service is opening this weekend, and it is a fantastic Matthew Vaughn throwback to the spy movies of yesterday, with the kind of gleeful mayhem and malevolence filmgoers have not seen since Vaughn’s own original Kick-Ass. It also so happens to be opening on the same weekend as Fifty Shades of Grey, a fact that has not escaped Kingsman star Samuel L. Jackson.

While speaking before the North American Premiere’s screening of Kingsman, Jackson had some thoughts about this inevitable match-up, which tracking admittedly has Fifty Shades of Grey ahead in with a staggering weekend forecast of $90 million. And I can verify that I along with the rest of the crowd appreciated Jackson’s sagacity.

“For those of you who think you’re gonna’ see this film for free tonight and watch Fifty Shades of Grey next Friday, I just want you to know that you can probably make your own version of Fifty Shades of Grey at home, and it’ll be better than the version that you’ll pay your money to see.”

Well damn, talk about shading all 50 grays into something a little less ambiguous!

“I suggest you take some friends to see this as your Valentine’s gift,” was Jackson’s final bit of wisdom before the screening. Meanwhile, newcomer Taron Egerton, who is making his big screen debut in Kingsman just seemed overjoyed to be there, saying that the film represents the “two hours of my life that I’m most proud of.” It’s certainly one that will leave action fans dizzy.

Both Kingsman: The Secret Service and Fifty Shades of Grey open Friday, Feb. 13th. However, you can check out our Kingsman review now.
