Might the days of Nick Fury on the big screen be numbered? Samuel L. Jackson is down to his last two films...
NewsSince he signed a lengthy contract with Marvel Studios many years ago, Samuel L. Jackson has appeared in six films as Nick Fury (with a seventh this summer), and also popped up in the TV show Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
However, his immediate future as Nick Fury isn't 100% clear. "I've only got two more movies in my contract," Jackson has revealed to IGN. "That might be the end of it, unless I get an extension."
He didn't seem downbeat about this in the brief interview snippet IGN posted, and he certainly seems to want an extension. Furthermore, he admits that he's still waiting for a Nick Fury movie. Although given that Marvel's slate appears to be full until 2019, and that only Spider-Man has the power to shuffle it, it looks a long shot.
Appreciating that Avengers: Age Of Ultron is already in the can, we'd guess that Jackson is almost certain to appear in Captain America: Civil War. And after that? Both Doctor Strange and Black Panther look quite likely too. We suspect Marvel might extend his contract beyond that though, not least with Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon.
Jackson is currently appearing in Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service.
