It looks like the Suicide Squad movie has solved its Rick Flag problem thanks to RoboCop star Joel Kinnaman.
NewsThe role once occupied by Tom Hardy in DC supervillain movie Suicide Squadappears to have been filled. Joel Kinnaman, who did a fine job in the better than expected Robocop reboot last year, is stepping into the role of Rick Flag, the leader of the Suicide Squad.
Latino Review first reported that Mr. Kinnaman was in negotiations for the role, and now The Wrap is reporting that it's a done deal.
Suicide Squad is directed by David Ayer, and it starts shooting next month in Toronto. It also stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Carla Delevigne as Enchantress. We're probably going to get an appearance by Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, too.
The Suicide Squad movie opens on August 5th, 2016. You can see the complete DC superhero movie release calendar here. We have all the other information on the Suicide Squadmovie here.
