Matthew Vaughn told us about his early idea for Kingsman 2, if things get that far...
NewsThis article contains spoilers for Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Kingsman: The Secret Service had a more than respectable opening weekend for a hyper-violent R-rated action movie (and it's well-earned, because it's a blast), the potential for a sequel is certainly there. In our recent interview with him, director/co-screenwriter Matthew Vaughn told us that he's got an idea for a second installment already:
"If, God forbid, this film's a hit, a lot of Kingsman 2 will be set in America where we sort of celebrate Americana, 'cause there are so many fun types of Americans and American folklore and American icons which I'd love to bring back, sort of like we did with the British stuff. So my idea for the sequel will have Eggsy (Taron Egerton) sort of ending up with the American (version of) Kingsman."
That sounds like a winning combination to us -- it would be a lot of fun to see the British "gentleman spy" type play off his usually rougher-edged American counterparts. Let's hope a sustained run at the box office makes a sequel possible.
