Jared Leto describes The Joker as a "nearly Shakespearean character", as he discusses his preparation for the role.
NewsWill Smith and Margot Robbie have already revealed that their training regimes for David Ayer's Suicide Squad movie have begun. And another actor who's putting in some hefty work to get into his role is Jared Leto, who's the new Joker in the DC movie universe.
He'll debut his take on the character in 2016's Suicide Squad (before playing him elsewhere in the DC movie universe), and in an interview with Billboard, he told the magazine that he's "trying to gain a lot of weight" for the role. "It means I have to eat every couple of hours - and I'm terrible at eating a lot."
Perhaps more interestingly, he talked about the pressure of taking The Joker role on. "The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character - that's what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right?"
He added that The Joker is "this beautiful disaster of a character - what a big challenge."
Suicide Squad arrives in cinemas in August 2016. You can read everything we know about the movie right here.
