Director Christopher McQuarrie responds to a report that Mission: Impossible 5 had been shut down to sort its ending out...
NewsA report landed over the weekend at The Hollywood Reporter, that suggested all was not well with this summer's Mission: Impossible 5. Specifically, that Paramount had apparently shut the film down for a week or so, in order to sort out the ending. That the ending as it stood was regarded as "unsatisfactory." As was pointed out in said report, this was a long way away from the reworking of World War Z's final 40 minutes. But it seemed a troubling report nonetheless.
"Director Christopher McQuarrie was given the extra time to work out a new and improved finale with a writer friend whose identity remains a mystery and who will neither be paid nor credited," read the piece.
Given that Mission: Impossible 5 has just been moved forward five months to an end of July release date, this seemed to raise an alarm bell or two. Christopher McQuarrie, however, has swiftly moved to Twitter to counter said rumours.
So there's this Tweet, for a start...

But more notably, he had Tweeted that "filming never wrapped. We took a short break to prep the finale properly." What presumably doesn't help is that that one's subsequently been deleted.
Mission: Impossible 5remains bang on course for its new July 31st release date, though, that much is sure. More as we hear it...
