The next project from 22 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord is the incoming TV show The Last Man On Earth. The show premieres at the start of March on Fox in the US, following an everyday guy who just happens to be the last hope for humanity. There aren't too many post-apocalyptic comedy shows on TV at the moment, either.
As part of the promotional work for the show, Messrs Miller and Lord have been chatting to Coming Soon, and the talk eventually turned to a further sequel in the Jump Street series of movies. Specifically, the plan to cross Jump Street with the Men In Black movies, which still seems to be an active plan.
"Well, it's very, very early on in this crazy fever pitch, but it's definitely a really interesting concept that makes you think," said Miller. "Talking about it, developing it with Jonah and Channing and Rodney and the studio, we can't just do the 'hey, it's the same thing again' schtick because we did that already."
This is true. Not least the fact that the end credits to 22 Jump Street - well, let's just say it ruled a few options out. "Those are canon," Miller said, "all 22 sequels. If we're going to do something, it's got to be different, but still have that same very specific Jump Street flavor to it."
There's no clue yet as to where 23 Jump Street/Jump Street Vs Men In Black fits into Miller and Lord's schedule (which also, of course, includes more LEGO movies). We'll pass on any news as we get it, though...
