EastEnders star Ben Hardy is joining the X-Men: Apocalypse cast in what is described as an important part.
NewsWho is Ben Hardy? Damned if I know. I'm joking. He's from EastEnders, a UK soap that nobody with an accent like mine has ever watched, but that is as unending and well-known as The Young & The Restless. Who is Ben Hardy playing in X-Men: Apocalypse? Well, I suppose I have some suspicions about that.
The Wrap, who broke the story, deny that he is playing Warren Worthington III, better known as the Angel, but "has been cast in another important role that is being kept under wraps." A Google image search reveals almost nothing but shirtless and muscular Ben Hardy photos, so he's certainly got the gym ethic for superheroics.
Anyway, he sure looks the part of the Angel, and if you're telling a big-screen Apocalypse story, you're probably gonna want to do something with Angel (for spoiler-y reasons that I detailed somewhat here). The current big-screen X-Men lineup, which now includes Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, is getting closer and closer to the core team we saw in the pages of the original X-Men #1, so perhaps Mr. Hardy is Bobby "Iceman" Drake, but I suppose that's a stretch. Mr. Hardy was previously up for the role of Cyclops, a part that went to Tye Sheridan.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27th, 2016. You can read much more about the film right here.
