It looks like we have some Battle Cat concept art for the Masters of the Universe movie. Check it out right here...
NewsWhen it comes to Sony's Masters of the Universe movie, our first, best, and sometimes only source is DeVon Franklin, the SVP of production for Columbia. Mr. Franklin has been pretty generous with fans on social media, occasionally responding to queries about the status of the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe live-action movie with updates and images. The latest one is the most exciting yet.
After being told by a fan that if Guardians of the Galaxy could hit $700 million at the worldwide box-office, then a new He-Man movie should have no problem raking in the bucks. Mr. Franklin responded in the affirmative, and then dropped what appears to be some Battle Cat concept art on us!

He previously revealed an official looking title card for the movie, too...

No word on who might direct Masters of the Universe, and no additional news surfaced "next week" as promised. Jon M. Chu was once set for the chair, but departed for another toy-centric project, Jem and the Holograms. It's possible that Jeff Wadlow, the director of Kick-Ass 2 and an upcoming X-Force movie for 20th Century Fox, and who wrote the screenplay, could end up directing. There's also been some chatter about Mike Cahill (I Origins) for the job.
We've known for some time that Mr. Wadlow's screenplay for the new Masters of the Universe movie is complete, since DeVon Franklin tweeted out an image of the title page back on January 1st.

As ridiculous as this might sound, I hope that the new Masters of the Universe movie takes a somewhat serious approach to the source material. Justin Marks' now discarded Grayskull: The Masters of the Universe script was a fairly logical reimagining of the He-Man mythology, and done properly, with the right amount of world-building, the realm of Eternia could do well as a franchise. They just have to get around some of those names...
Thanks to IndieRevolver for the tip on that title card.
