The Expendables are all about not knowing when to quit, so of course there's a TV series coming to Fox.
NewsSylvester Stallone is developing The Expendables for TV for Fox because of course an ExpendablesTV series is exactly what that franchise needs. Right? There's a very cool, almost meta twist to this, though. While the Expendablesfilm franchise is all about bringing movie badasses together, the TV series is looking to do the same for small screen guys.
Somebody had better get Mr. T on the phone right this very instant. It's easy to imagine Chuck Norris, who is equally known for his long running stint as star of Walker, Texas Ranger as he is for film badassery making the jump from the movies to the TV show.
So, it's nice to see that this isn't going to be a rehash of the movies or simply a watered-down version of the movie concept. It appears that the season long mission will be the takedown of "a dangerous terrorist." That sounds about right.
Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward (NCIS: LA) are writing with Shane Brennan, Sylvester Stallone, and Avi Lerner executive producing. Don't be surprised is this turns out to be a short season, as Fox are becoming less shy about adopting a cable model. See the recent return of 24, the poorly received but mercifully brief Gracepoint, and the upcoming Wayward Pines as prime examples.
This may develop quickly, so we'll keep you posted.
