Production on Kevin Smith's Clerks 3 appears to be moving to the city of Brotherly Love. How fitting for Dante and Randal.
NewsAs Kevin Smith inches ever closer to making his long awaited return to the View Askewniverse (at least in some circles), it appears that it will not be occurring in the much fabled land of New Jersey—for production purposes, at least.
Smith last mentioned that production for Clerks 3 would be occurring in Pittsburgh, but now according to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (via the Pittsburgh Business Times), it appears that Smith is now shooting the film in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. How fitting for Dante and Randal.
We imagine that there still might be some exteriors at least taken at the storied Quick Stop for the film.
As a kind of alternative version to Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy, Smith has been following up on the adventures of Dante and Randal (and Jay and Silent Bob) every 10 years with the Clerks films. For a moment, it looked as if Clerks 3 might not happen after Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company passed on financing the picture, but as Kevin Smith told fans at a New York Comic Con panel that we attended, the business connections made during the filming of Tusk has led to not only two indirect sequels to that film, but also to financing for Clerks 3. He also announced at the panel that at least a portion of Clerks 3 will be shot in black and white.
