Paul Feig is not amused by some of the responses to his all-female Ghostbusters.
NewsSometimes directors and other artistic types can be a little sensitive and defensive. But in the case of the sheer venom directed at Paul Feig and his female Ghostbusterscast, he may have a point.
Mr. Feig described the backlash (correctly) as "some of the most vile, misogynistic sh** I've ever seen in my life."
“The biggest thing I’ve heard for the last four months is, ‘Thanks for ruining my childhood.’ It’s going to be on my tombstone when I die...It’s so dramatic. Honestly, the only way I could ruin your childhood is if I got into a time machine and went back and made you an orphan.”
Meanwhile, whether you like it or not, Ghostbustersgoes into production in June. It opens on July 22nd, 2016. It stars Melissa McCarthy (female), Kristen Wiig (also female), Kate McKinnon (a woman), Cecily Strong (ditto), and Leslie Jones (has two X chromosomes). Mr. Feig is writing the movie with Katie Dippold, who also happens to be a woman.
There's a somewhat more male driven Ghostbustersmovie coming in 2017 if you feel you are being discriminated against.
