Don't worry Deadpool fans, this movie is being made with you in mind. At least that's what Ryan Reynolds says.
NewsGiven that Deadpool's screen debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine wasn't exactly what most people (comic fans or otherwise) were exactly looking for, a little something like this is nice to hear. Ryan Reynolds, who has long been a believer in the Deadpoolmovie, even when things seemed darkest (alright, fine, nothing was ever as dark as the fake-ass Baraka Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but you get the idea), is now saying all the right things.
Don't believe me? Fine. Let Mr. Reynolds tell you:
"We’ve got a director that understands that world, and writers with a slavish devotion to the canon of that character. That’s the most important aspect: it’s made in a way the most critical of fanboys could embrace. Well, that’s the hope."
Now, let's not get carried away, Ryan. We all know that "the most critical of fanboys" will never be happy, but you know what they say, shoot for the moon and if you miss you'll die in a horrible rocket crash or something like that.
But seriously, he's probably right. Deadpooldirector Tim Miller has fought hard to get this movie made, and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick kept the faith, too. While this version of the movie will probably deviate a bit from the super R-rated draft that we read a while back, there was never any doubt that script was written by fans, for fans. I mean, just look at the obscure X-Men characters they dug up for this thing.
Deadpoolwill hit theaters on February 12th, 2016. We can hardly believe it ourselves.
