Not only do we have word on all four downloadable characters, including some surprises, but you can play as Carl Weathers! Sure, why not!
TrailerThe Mortal Kombat X news keeps getting bigger and better. Last night, the Xbox Market site accidentally let it slip that the Predator would be one of the downloadable characters. That’s a bit more of a concrete source than your friend’s uncle who totally works for Sony, so it’s not like it could be swept under the rug. Instead, NetherRealm Studios has owned up to it and have gone full ham on revealing the Kombat Pack season pass.
Not only do we have confirmation on Predator to go with Jason Voorhees, but we now know the other two DLC characters will be Tanya and sort-of-but-not-really new character Tremor! And Liu Kang has been stealth revealed in the list of costumes! And Carl Weathers as that son of a bitch Colonel Al Dillon will be an alternate skin for Jax! Oh my God, yes!
So while you can get the season pass as one thing, you can also pick up the characters and various character skins individually:
- The Ultimate Horror Pack comes with Jason Voorhees as well as horror skins for Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile, and Pharaoh Ermac.
- The Klassic Pack #1 comes with Tanya as well as old school skins for Kano, Sonya Blade, and Liu Kang.
- The Predator/Prey Pack comes with Predator and Predator-themed skins for Commando Johnny, Infrared Scorpion, and Carl Weathers as Jax.
- The Klassic Pack #2 comes with Tremor and old school skins for Quan Chi, Jax, and Kung Lao.
While Tanya has shown up in prior Mortal Kombat games, Tremor is the real surprise here. Tremor, originally portrayed as a yellow-brownish version of your average Mortal Kombat ninja, was a boss character in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces back in 2000. The Jax-centric game is considered to be one of the worst titles in the Mortal Kombatlibrary due to a lot of behind-the-scenes problems. The overly-jacked Tremor was a Lin Kuei ninja who left his clan behind to become part of the Black Dragon organization. When they released a port of Mortal Kombat 9 for the PlayStation Vita, Tremor was briefly playable in one of the Challenge Tower missions.
The only other reference the series has ever made to Special Forces is an appearance by fellow boss Tasia in the Mortal Kombat X prequel comic.
With Liu Kang’s namedrop, that fits the full 25 slots of the select screen. Looks like we’ve got ourselves a full roster. In the meantime, for more Mortal Kombat X news, check out our coverage hub. Me? I’m going to celebrate by watching the greatest handshake in cinematic history.
