Miles Teller says of the Fantastic Four reboot that "I hope people go on that ride with us..."

News

The start of August will see director Josh Trank's reboot of the Fantastic Four arrive in cinemas, and in it, Miles Teller will be playing Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic. He's been doing a bit more promotional work for the now-in-cinemas Divergentsequel, Insurgent. And the topic of theFantastic Fourreboot inevitably came up.

"When I saw the sizzle trailer, that was the first I had seen of it. I saw that at the same time as everyone else, literally. I was excited about it," he told Moviefone. "Because when you're shooting a movie you can kind of get a sense of the tone of it from the director and how they're directing it, but in terms of how you shoot it, the lighting and everything, you're not aware of it. Because I'm just in a scene and I'm talking to another actor but the way he's seeing it in his head, where it's grittier or darker, I'm not acting grittier or darker."

He added that "I hope people go on that ride with us. Because we're making it our own, we're taking a lot from the Ultimate Fantastic Fourbut I think we're humanizing these characters in a way that's never been done".

Teller also confirmed that he's ready for the sequel, although it's not clear yet if Josh Trank will return to direct it. It seems unlikely, given that Trank has been announced as a director of a Star Wars spin-off movie, the one expected in 2018. Writer and producer Simon Kinberg is expected back, however.

Fantastic Four arrives in cinemas on August 5th 2015.
