Tom Hardy's Mad Max needs a drink and Charlize Theron gets in his face about it.
NewsThere’s no doubt that Mad Max: Fury Road is the dark horse candidate for “movie of the summer.” Competing with much bigger (and more recent) brands like The Avengers, Jurassic World and Terminator, this return to George Miller’s sun-blasted post-apocalyptic asylum has been knocking people out ever since the first footage debuted at Comic-Con, and it wowed them again on Saturday (April 4) at WonderCon.
The packed convention center arena was treated to a double shot of Max: a slightly different variation on the latest trailer and a brand new clip prepared especially for the con. The scene takes place approximately 20 minutes into the film and comes after the first huge action sequence. We join Max as he digs himself out of the sand next to the wreckage of a car, only to find himself chained to another prisoner who we assume is dead and whose body he drags along with him as he makes his way toward a transport he sees in the distance.

That transport is carrying the handful of young women who are being ferried to safety by Furiosa (Charlize Theron), whom we also meet in this clip. Max points a non-functional gun at them and demands water, only to get into it with Furiosa as she attempts to beat him to death. But as the two struggle, the man that Max is chained to wakes up as well…
The action in this scene is more personal and on a smaller scale than what we’ve seen in the trailers, but still highlights the visceral, brutal world in which this movie takes place. The follow-up trailer contained mostly footage we’ve seen in other teasers. At this point the anticipation among fans for Mad Max: Fury Road could not be greater, and there’s not much they can show us before the movie’s May 15 release. We're ready, Max.
