Disney's iconic animated Pinocchio(1940) is based on Carlo Collodi's 1883 book, The Adventures of Pinocchio, which is a bit more serious than the film version. Reportedly, Disney is looking for something more along the book's vibe than a simple live-action adaptation of their own work.
