The Captain Marvel movie is due in 2018 - but we won't be seeing Carol Danvers in Avengers: Age Of Ultron...
If you believe the rumor mill, and the incoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron which arrives in on May 1st - is set to feature the screen debut of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. After all, a standalone Captain Marvel movie has been scheduled for November 2018, and Marvel is introducing characters such as the new Spider-Man and Black Panther ahead of their own individual features.
However, this is one rumor that Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has nixed - although it turns out that there was some truth to it.
There was originally a plan to introduce Danvers in Joss Whedon's Avengerssequel, but the studio elected not to. "We didn't want to introduce her fully-formed flying in a costume before you got to known who she was and how she came to be," Feige explained to MTV.
That said, the smart money is still on Danvers appearing on screen before 2018. Yet with the role yet to be cast, there's still some way to go before Captain Marvel officially appears on screen in the Marvel cinematic universe...
