While Michelle MacLaren is no longer the Wonder Woman director, Warner Bros. has tapped Patty Jenkins for the chair.
Patty Jenkins is the new director of the Wonder Woman movie. After Michelle MacLaren left the project earlier in the week citing "creative differences," Jenkins has stepped in to become the first female director of a major superhero movie.
She almost had that honor much sooner. Ms. Jenkins was the original director of Thor: The Dark Worldbefore "creative differences" drove her away from that project. She's best known for her feature debut, the Charlize Theron starring Monsterand for directing the pilot episode of The Killing for AMC.
One of the Wonder Woman scripts in development comes from Jason Fuchs (the upcoming Pan), and it's been said that Michelle MacLaren was taking an active hand in the development of the competing drafts. Wonder Woman opens on June 23rd, 2017, and it starts Gal Gadot. But first we'll meet Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman very soon in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
