Angelina Jolie is apparently on Marvel's wishlist to bring Carol Danvers to the big screen....
NewsThere were very, very vague rumours flying around a few weeks ago, that had linked Angelina Jolie with the director's chair for the Captain Marvel movie, that Marvel Studios is planning. Turns out though that there may have been something to them.
Collider - one of the more reliable online sources - has restated that Jolie is very much on the Marvel wishlist (and that she was interesting Warner Bros for its Wonder Woman project, that has since signed up Patty Jenkins). Jolie, of course, made her directorial debut last year with Unbroken, a film that did $115 million of business at the US box office alone. According to the site, "we now have confirmation that she's definitely under consideration for the job," although that's, of course, a long way away from "she's definitely taking the job on."
After all, Jolie already has her next directorial project lined up. That's set to be the film Africa, starring Brad Pitt, although there's some uncertainty over whether that particular project will press ahead as planned. It's little secret that she's keen to direct more movies, though.
Captain Marvel, meanwhile, is scheduled for release on November 2nd 2018, so time is still very much on its side. We'll keep you posted as we hear more...
