Check out the creepiest practical effects pumpkin you're likely to see this week in horror movie short film, Evil Nature
TrailerGreat pumpkin, that’s a scary pumpkin. Darin Beckstead, who brought us Constantine, Tales From The Crypt and Superman Returns, released a short tease of his proposed Halloween movie Evil Nature.
The two-minute movie, which is half credits, was shot in one night with a skeleton crew and unpaid actors. The guy in the plaid shirt was a friend of the producer, probably up until that pumpkin got carved.
The short film hopes to to demonstrate “unique” monster movement via practical effects with digital VFX support.
“Questions I expect from any feature financer would be – What will these creatures look like? And how might they perform? I was fortunate to have some very talented supporters who believed these questions deserved answers,” said Beckstead in a statement.
The creature was designed by MastersFX Studio (Underworld: Awakening, Slither, True Blood). The visual effects were done by Walt Jones (Life of Pi, The Chronicles of Riddick) from Tau Films.
“I started developing the story and characters about three years ago,” Beckstead said. “With this POC, it’s a kick to see some of that pulp hit the fan.”
If it’s picked up Charles Picco, a creator of Todd & the Book of Pure Evil, has a screenplay already.
