Steven Moffat has had a bit of a U-turn about the Doctor Who movie rumors, as long as the show isn’t hurt by it…
NewsOne of the more recent things to come out of the Sony hack was some chatter about the long-rumored Doctor Who film. Although we didn’t pass that story on, because of where it came from, Moffat’s response to the reinvigorated rumours was rather interesting.
In a bit of a U-turn compared to his previous statements, he has said “I'm very happy for there to be a movie, very happy [for there] to be a theatre show – anything you like – but the TV show is incredibly important and must not be hurt. Everybody knows that."
"You can't make a movie that damages the TV series... That's the only thing I'd say about it,” he also mentioned, before elaborating with "if someone can work out how [a movie] actually works, I've got nothing against it, but no one's ever been very clear about how it actually works. It's not really got that far and it's not my job. I can neither action it nor stop it."
"I'm sure there's money to be made out of it but that's not the point, is it? We are British, the BBC. We are there for the art," he concluded.
Still not much change there, then, but he certainly seems more open to the idea. We’ll keep you posted of any further developments.
