
Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan teams with Disney for Jack and the Beanstalk movie
NewsWe’ve heard of baked beans, but Vince Gilligan will be breaking beans for Disney. The Breaking Bad creator is going to get America off meth and hooked on Jack. Jack and the Beanstalk that is.
Walt Disney Pictures announced that it will produce a revisionist take on the Jack and the Beanstalk story based on an outline by Vince Gilligan. The Breaking Bad and Better Call Saulcreator already pulled in screenwriter Thomas Schnauz, who won Emmys for Breaking Badand Better Call Saul, to write the script.
Gilligan and Mark Johnson will produce but it has not yet been announced whether Gilligan will be directing vehicle. Gilligan directed episodes of The X-Files, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul. He hasn't directed a feature film yet, though his name is in the screenplays for Home Friesand Hancock.
The Jack and the Beanstalk story was last put on the big screen in Bryan Singer’s big budget movie Jack the Giant Slayer, which didn’t do well at the box office or with critics.
