As Avengers 2 blasts off at the box office, it looks like it has deleted scenes and a different ending on Blu-ray.

As expected, Joss Whedon's hugely anticipated Avengers: Age Of Ultrongot off to a staggering start at the global box office over the weekend. The movie - which opens in America later this week - already has $201m in the bank from its first weekend across 44 international markets. Pretty much everywhere the film has opened thus far, it's outperforming Marvel's biggest movies to date, including the original The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

After its first four days on release in the UK, for instance, Avengers: Age Of Ultron was set to hit £18m in takings. Its second weekend hold - and US opening numbers - will offer a very big clue as to whether it can match the $1.5bn take of the first movie. Either way, Marvel has another huge hit on its hands.

As such, when the film eventually arrives on DVD and Blu-ray later in the year, it's expected to make Disney and Marvel Studios a few more quid then as well. But unusually for a Marvel release, it's going to have an extended version on its home release, including an alternate ending. Not sinceThe Incredible Hulk DVD came with a lot of deleted scenes will we have had so much excerted material from a Marvel movie on its home release, it seems.

The news has come via an Amazon UK mailer of all things, but inevitably, we've no more exact details at this stage. Those will come with the formal announcement of the disc, which we're expecting in September or early October (if Marvel follows its usual pattern).

More as we hear it, of course.
