Cube is getting a remake

The thriller Cube is an ingenious film, that uses a single location setting in clever ways, cranking up the tension as the story progresses. Released in 1997, the low budget hit was followed by a sequel and a prequel, neither of which matched the majesty of the original.

So now, we're getting a remake.

Going by the name of Cubed, the new film is to be directed by newcomer Saman Kesh (who has come to prominence due to his acclaimed short film, Controller), with the screenplay this time around from Philip Gawthorne. Roy Lee and John Spaihts are set to produce the film.

We don't have a release date for Cubed yet, but we wouldn't be surprised to see it in cinemas next year. More on the project as we hear it, as always.
