The Academy Award winning actor will make his feature directorial debut directing himself.
NewsEver since his introduction to American audiences, Christoph Waltz has taken Hollywood by storm in Oscar worthy flicks like Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained, and Big Eyes. Now he’ll be bringing that excellence behind the camera.
Waltz will make his feature directorial debut with the crime drama The Worst Marriage In Georgetown. Voltage Pictures will finance the film as well as produce, purchasing the film at Cannes. Waltz is also set to star in the film as Albrecht Muth, a peculiar status seeker who cons wealthy, elderly widow Viola Drath into marrying him.
The film is based on an article by Franklin Foer in The New York Times.
Muth drew suspicion after lying significantly about his background while he and Drath threw extravagant fund raising events, which elevated the couple into top political circles. It all came crashing down for Muth in 2011 when Drath was found murdered in their Georgetown home.
The script for the film was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and playwright David Auburn and production for the movie is set to begin on October 12.
